NOTICE is hereby given to all City of Mutare Residents, Customers and Stakeholders that from January 2024, statements will be denominated in USD in line with Statutory Instruments 118A of 2022 and 218 of 2023 which makes it lawful for Council and other institutions to display bills in both local and foreign currencies. This strategy has been necessitated by the challenges faced by Council in printing bills based in higher denominations of the local currency ie bills pegged in Billions. The bills pegged in billions are no longer compatible with our system and are coming out as question marks instead of the actual figures.
The RTGS opening balances were converted to USD using the interbank rate prevailing on the 18th of January 2024, hence the billing rate was 9779.1293. Customers, Residents and Stakeholders take note that payments can be done either in USD or ZWL using the prevailing interbank rate.
City of Mutare statements delivery and subsequent meter reading process is now anticipated to be carried out as from 26th of January 2024 up to 12th of February 2024. All Customers, Residents and Stakeholders are hereby requested to make their properties accessible to enable smooth statements delivery and meter reading processes.
City of Mutare will also communicate the account balances per property using the bulk SMS system. In the spirit of digitizing our service delivery system, Council is requesting property owners who are yet to submit their contact details, phone numbers, or emails to do so.
Residents, Customers and Stakeholders are strongly advised to clear their debts in order to avoid service delivery disruptions.
