More than 100 women empowerment groups, supported by Council, Women Affairs and Mercy Corps, exhibited their products and wares during the 2023 Women Empowerment Exhibitions held at Queens Hall.
The women were challenged to formalise their businesses in order to become more competitive.
The need for a structured tailor made clustered shelter was also pointed out.
Council re-affirmed its commitment to continue working with the women empowerment groups with a veiw to eradicate poverty in communities.
It was an early Christmas to some of the groups who excelled ,as they walked away with different prizes courtesy of City of Mutare and its partners.
Women are indeed making an impact and making use of their own locally available resources to earn a decent living and prospects of transforming some of the groups into a formidable businesses power houses are very high.
The Acting Town Clerk for City of Mutare, The Deputy Mayor Clr John Nyamhoka, Director of Housing and Community Services, The Ministry of Women Affairs, District Development Officer Mr John Matandare and other delegates had an opportunity of touring the different exhibitions stands.
Among the more than 100 women exhibitors were women empowerment groups of people living with disabilities who also showcased their products.
