The newly elected City of Mutare councillors were yesterday sworn in by the acting Town Clerk Mr Blessing Kapuya Chafesuka.
All the 25 Honourable Councillors took oath of office one after another, at a colourful ceremony which was attended by party supporters from Citizen’s Coalition of Zimbabwe CCC and ZANU-PF.
First to take the oath of office was Ward 1 Councillors John Nyamhoka, Ward 2 Gift Kadozora, Ward 3 Maita Tichaenzana, Ward 4 Edson Kalulu, Ward 5 Simon Mapuvire, Ward 6 Mukodza Sekai, Ward 7 Daniel Saunyama, Ward 8 Gwasira Sophia Rudo, Ward 9 Blessing Murindashaka, Ward 10 Calvin Matsiya, Ward 11 Chabuka Simon, Ward 12 Nengomasha Cloud, Ward 13 Musorowenzou Takemore, Ward 14 Masenyama Patrick, Ward 15 Itayi Chisoni, Ward 16 Chatikobo Gift, Ward 17 Nyamana Jefrey, Ward 18 Mugorosa James, Ward 19 Mukombero Zvichauya.
The following Councillors were also elected under the 30% women’s Quota Proportional Representation, Councillor Tandire Mirriam, Councillor Chipiro Lilian, Councillor Manyara Tapiwa, Councillor Sarah Manjengwa, Councillor Chimonyo Victoria Mwanyara, Councillor Chirara Charity.
