2024 “Jewell of the East; Drawing/Painting Competition” Award Ceremony

A total of 560 entries and 32 Schools participated in the 2024 City of Mutare Junior Council “Jewell of the East; Drawing/Painting Competition”

The awards ceremony was held on Friday 22 March 2024 at the Civic Center.

Three winners from each of the Six (6) categories in the drawing/painting competition, were paraded and received their medals, certificates, and prize money.

Children or Young persons from ECD to Upper 6 participated in the Competition.

The winners per each Category are as follows:

Bailey Sithole (ECD -Grade 2)
Magtipaishe Mutyavariri (Grade 3 to Grade 5)
Simbarashe Makota ( Grade 6 and Grade 7)
Tinotenda Muzvongi ( Form 1 and Form 2)
Spencer Chigare ( Form 3 and Form 4)
Adek Muradzikwa ( Form 5 and Form 6)

BRONZE ($30)
Blessing Mudzamiri ( ECD and Grade 2)
Tawanda Mupfonda (Grade 3 to Grade 5)
Esther Mutepfa ( Grade 6 and Grade 7)
Kondiwerani Mangere (Form 1 and Form 2)
Elvin Mwashita ( Form 3 and Form 4)
Tanyaradzwa Mangobe (Form and Form 6)

The competition aims to acknowledge children and youth as equal, contributing members of society, partners, and human beings with the ability to influence development and service delivery in the city.

Additionally, the programs give kids and teenagers a chance to participate in City Council planning process.

The 2024 Jewel of the East, Drawing/Painting Competition was held under the them “My City, My Park – Children’s Nature Park”.

The Children’s Nature Park will be designed using Drawings and/or Paintings, with completion of the Children’s Play Park anticipated before the end of the year.

The Junior Council Mayor, His Worship Makomborero Madamombe, Junior Deputy Mayor, Her Worship Ashley Petros, Junior Acting Town Clerk Angela Chinzvende, and Acting Town Clerk Mrs. Mandiziba (Director of Housing and Community Services) presented the winners with their medals, certificates, and prize money.

Together, United, We Shall Make City of Mutare Great Once Again.
